Terms of service

You need to be at least 18 to create an account, or 13 with a parent or guardian's permission. If you're using the platform on behalf of a company or organization, you're confirming you have the authority to bind them to these terms.

You're responsible for your account. Keep your password safe. If someone accesses your account without your permission, contact us right away.

You can:

• Book classes with tutors on the platform.
• Message your tutor about class logistics.
• Use Nimodo through the linked account.
• Manage your bookings, payments, and profile.

You can't:

• Use the platform to solicit off-platform bookings from tutors you met here.
• Share your account with others.
• Post abusive, harmful, or illegal content in messages, reviews, or profiles.
• Try to break, exploit, or reverse-engineer the platform.
• Impersonate someone else.
• Use the platform for anything illegal.

When you book a class, you're entering into a service agreement with your tutor, with Habla Boricua handling logistics. Prices are set by tutors. Payments are processed by Stripe. See our cancellation policy and refund policy for how those work.

If you're a tutor, you're providing services as an independent contractor, not an employee of Habla Boricua. You're responsible for your own taxes and legal obligations. Your relationship with your students is bound by these terms and our platform policies.

You keep ownership of content you create (messages, profile content, reviews). You give us permission to display and use it as part of the platform.

We may remove content that violates these terms or our community standards.

A trial class on its own doesn't unlock reviews. You can review a tutor once you've continued with them past the trial and completed a regular class together, so reviews come from students who have actually studied with that tutor.

You leave one review per tutor, and you can update it as your experience changes. Tutors can respond to reviews publicly. Neither students nor tutors can leave fake reviews.

If something goes wrong, contact us first. We try to resolve issues quickly and fairly.

Habla Boricua is provided “as is.” We work hard to make it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We're not responsible for indirect or consequential damages.

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms after appropriate notice, or immediately for serious violations.

We update these terms occasionally. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Puerto Rico (or wherever the entity is legally based; placeholder for legal review).
